How to make homemade applesauce
My lovely classmate brought me a bag full of apples from her apple tree! ๐๐ I decided to make applesauce with them since applesauce can be used as a base for several other recipes, like protein bars and apple pancakes.
What youโll need:
- About 12-15 small apples, peeled, and cores removed
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup raw sugar
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 big peel from lemon skin
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
How to make:
Put all ingredients in a large pot on the stove and cook on high heat for 20 minutes. Remove lemon peel. Simmer for another 10 minutes or until excess water is removed and the apples are all cooked. Take a potato masher and mash all remaining bits. Store in refrigerator.

It looks delicious! I look forward to see the recipe for protein bars and pancakes.
#1 I'll (hopefully) be posting them this weekend! ๐

When I'm lazy but want applesauce on my porridge, I just peel an apple and grate it with a fine grater. It's super fast when you only need one Apple and are going to eat it right away. It quickly turns brown, so if you want to store it you need to mix in some lemon sauce or other preservative.
Best regards, Niklas ๐
I like to swap out applesauce for the oil or butter in many dessert recipies!
Happy creating!
